Off to Spain!

I'm off to Spain tomorrow for a well deserved holiday. For the next week and a bit, I will be spending my days camped out at a Spanish bar eating Tapas and sipping Sherry.

In other words, don't expect any updates till I return in July.

Gerry the sprinter

I love this next set of pictures. We were in the IFC mall one weekend (the missus had to pick up her pc and some other stuff from work).

Here you can see me carrying her pc.

Anyway, while we were there, we took some great action shots of Gerry. Of course, the fact that I like them may simply be bias considering the amount of work it took to get them.

As I said before, Gerry loves to grab the camera now as soon as he sees you pointing it at him. So in order to get these pictures, I had to run ahead of him, stop and quickly take a picture of him while he was running up to me. The result is some great shots of Gerry.

This is possibly my favourite simply because of the expression on his face. He looks so happy!

I like this one due to the sensation of movement from the picture. You can really feel him running towards you in this one.

This picture is slightly skewed. After several sprints back and forth, I suspect he was starting to get tired by this point!

Gerry's trip to Starbucks

Another post about Gerry and his love of coffee.

For some reason, we have recently spent a lot of time at Starbucks. We generally go there during the afternoon. The missus will get a tall mocha while I get my usual cappucino. Naturally, no coffee is complete without the accompanying cake.

In this picture, you can see we got the tiramisu. Tiramisu (literally "pick me up" in Italian) is by far my favourite dessert but unfortunately, the tiramisu on offer in Starbucks isn't quite up to scratch.

A rare chance for me to hold Gerry. Although he is willing to let me hold him these days, he much prefers his mommy. I can already tell that he is going to be a mommy's boy.

Ah, but such a cute mommy's boy.

This was originally Gerry trying to grab the camera while the missus was trying to take a picture. I just stuck my head into the frame at the last moment.
:)

And finally, a picture of Gerry drinking his mocha.

At last - some more pics of Gerry

The title speaks for itself. I haven't blogged about Gerry in ages now primarily because my old PC was on the fritz and I didn't want to put any more pictures on its hard drive in case it crashed on me.

I now finally have a new PC (a notebook which I'll talk about later) and have transferred all my pics over to my new computer. Which means that its finally time for some more pictures of Gerry.

Huzzah!

These pictures were taken in April during a trip to Disneyland. Unlike our other trips, this time we decided to have lunch in Disneyland and went to a cafe there (sponsored by Lee Kum Kee). The food was pretty poor (and expensive of course!) as expected. However, Gerry still seemed to really enjoy the soup.

To be honest, we don't take as many pictures of Gerry as we used to. Nowadays, its very hard to take a picture of Gerry as everytime he sees the camera, this happens:

Angels and Demons

I've just finished reading the novel Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. If the authors name seems familiar, its because Dan Brown was the guy who wrote The Da Vinci Code.

I had read The Da Vinci Code a while ago (before they even confirmed that it would be turned into a movie) and it was a great novel. A really gripping story and extremely well written. As a result of this, I decided to try out some of Dan Browns other novels. Angels and Demons, being Robert Langdon's (the hero of The Da Vinci Code) first adventure, was an obvious choice.

And I was not disappointed. Angels and Demons is another great novel from Dan Brown. I only started reading it several days ago and I've already finished. The book is extremely gripping and very hard to put down once you pick it up - I can't remember the last time I finished a novel so quickly (although it might have been The Da Vinci Code!).

In many ways, Angels and Demons is very similar to The Da Vinci Code. The story is again about the church and an ancient cult out to destroy the church. The writing is superb - revealing just a little bit more of the story in each chapter. Just enough to keep you on the edge of your seat and make you want to keep reading to find out what happens next.

All in all, an excellent read and a definite recommendation from yours truly.

Sinks - au revoir

As you know, the Airline industry in the US isn't doing particularly well. In fact, many airlines are actively trying to find new income streams or new ways to cut costs. Which brings us to Horizon Air.

Short version - on a recent short haul flight in the US on Horizon Air, the washrooms didn't have any sinks. All it had was a bottle of hand sanitizer.

Ewww.

The thing is, the US is big. Big enough that if I ever did go, I would likely go to more than just one city/state. In other words, I would likely be taking short haul flights around the US at some stage. And to be perfectly honest, just the thought of washrooms without sinks is giving me the heebie jeebies.

To be fair, I don't know if any other airlines have also adopted this policy. For all I know, Horizon Air might be the only one. Still, hearing about stuff like this isn't exactly filling me with confidence.
