One last photo from that trip to Bangkok - which admittedly was a while ago now!
One of the nice things about Thailand is that it has a Swensens which sell some pretty nice ice cream sundaes. Naturally, as they aren't in HK, we went there quite often while we were over there.
On second thought, maybe it's a good thing they aren't in HK...

Guess which way the shopping mall is...
I have no real idea why but I always enjoy taking pictures of traffic.
The one below was taken during the aforementioned trip to Bangkok while we were heading towards Siam Paragon, a huge shopping mall in Bangkok. No prizes for guessing which way the shopping mall is..

Welcome to the Hotel Indigo
The missus and I ended up in Bangkok not that long ago. I took this picture while we were there, enjoying ourselves with an evening drink.
To be clear, we weren't staying at the Hotel Indigo.

Lady in pink
I actually took this picture a while ago. What drew me to it at the time is still the same reason I like it now - that pink background!

Heli in HK
Woops. I may have completely forgotten to update this blog.
:)
Anyway, this next photo is interesting to me for 2 reasons.
The first is probably interesting to me only. My wife and I were out and we saw a helipad and my wife commented that she had never seen a helicopter land on that helipad. Sure enough, we then saw a helicopter land on it. I guess Big Brother really is listening!
The second is that, despite the fact that helicopters are noisy (and I mean really noisy!), I didn't actually notice it until it was almost right on top of me. At the time, I was fully concentrating on trying to frame a different photo so had tuned out the world around me. By the time I noticed the helicopter, I only had time to quickly point and shoot.
Which, to an extent is annoying as, if I had time, I would have changed the camera settings. At the time, I had the lens fully open which meant the shutter was quick resulting in the helicopter blades looking absolutely still. I think this photo may have been a bit better if the blades were a little blurry.
On the other hand, it probably meant that I was able to get a clear picture of one of the people inside the helicopter looking out so I guess its very much pros and cons.

Working the scene
As I mentioned last week, one of the things I've been trying to do a bit more of is to work the scene a bit more. Last week, I posted the most obvious picture of the Xmas decorations - namely, a full frontal pic of the decorations.
One of the other pics I managed to get was a picture from a bit further away with the big Xmas decoration in the background.
As you can tell from the picture, these were all taken at night. As a result, I had fully opened the aperture on my camera. In one respect, this was great as the bokeh effect on the lights came out pretty nice. However, the downside is that the big Xmas decoration is a bit more blurry than I would have liked. Still, overall, I quite like this pic.

Merry Xmas?
Been offline a bit longer than expected but it is finally time to post some xmas pics. Better late than never right?
:)
Over Xmas, I was out one night taking pics of some of the xmas celebrations. One of the things I've been trying to do better with my photography is to work the scene a bit more. In that vein, I managed to get several photos from the same plaza. This first one is probably the most obvious pic and is a full frontal of the decorations.
